Spring marks the end of winter and with it comes warmth as well as the beautiful gifts of nature. From blooming flowers to chirping birds, spring is prime time to go outdoors to bask in nature. The new season also ushers in the perfect opportunity to spice up the usual activities by incorporating some springtime flare. No matter your age or ability, here are some spring crafts you can do this season!
Flower Wreaths
Flower wreaths or spring wreaths are a classic springtime activity that can double as a beautiful addition to your home! They’re multifunctional too so you can hang them up around the house as decorations or you can make them a little smaller and use them as flower crowns for an impromptu photo shoot.
To make flower wreaths, you can purchase a plain, pre-made wreath or flower crown to be repurposed. The fun part comes when you and your loved ones pick out your decorations! You may choose to use real flowers (though you must make sure to dry them properly), or decorative flowers such as silk flowers. Other materials such as faux easter eggs and even miniature animals would look adorable on your wreaths. The sky is the limit when it comes to your spring wreath decoration!
Decorated Picture Frames
What do we typically have in abundance in our homes? That’s right, pictures. And what better way to spruce things up around the house than by decorating your picture frames!
To make this craft possible, you will need to purchase some plain picture frames, preferably those that can fit existing pictures. Then, gather your materials, such as ribbons, flowers, glitter, and more and get creative. You can even prop the picture you are looking to put into the frame on the side and use it as inspiration for your decorations! It’s truly the perfect way to honor a treasured memory.
Garden Flags
While it might sound difficult, a garden flag is actually rather easy to craft and can be a wonderful addition to any garden!
To make a garden flag, get some plain fabric and cut it into a rectangle. Then, gather some materials to decorate your flag. This can include, paint or stains, lightweight silk flowers, and glitter. However, if you plan to place your flag outdoors, make sure the materials you use are able to withstand the weather and any potentially strong winds. Before you start decorating, fold a few inches from the top of the fabric and sew it down. This will be the opening where you place your flag holder or string. After this, all that’s left to do is have fun and decorate your flag!
Beautiful Pressed Flowers
Pressed flowers are beautiful and by far the easiest form of spring craft. Whether you are using them as decoration or as bookmarks, these easy-to-make crafts are a must in spring!
Unlike the other crafts on this list, faux flowers are not an option! This gives you a chance to venture outside with your loved ones to find small wildflowers to press. Next, you will need to lay the flowers on a sheet of wax paper. Then, place another sheet of wax paper on the flowers and put something heavy on top. For the best results, you should leave the flowers like that overnight.
Once the flowers are pressed, you can choose to laminate them into a bookmark or hang them around your room. Pressed wildflowers can also be used as decoration for the other crafts on this list!
