As we mature and have more time for ourselves, we tend to prefer activities that can easily take up our whole day because we have that much time on our hands. From learning a new sport to making new crafts daily, the activities are seemingly endless. However, a certain percentage of people may lose mobility in their hands and this will greatly reduce the number of activities that they can do. Some may even end up losing the motivation to do activities altogether. Here are some crafts for your loved ones with limited dexterity to try out and keep them busy!
Paper Plate Wreaths
For a simple craft that is easy on the hands, give paper plate wreaths a go! Perfect for the Thanksgiving holidays or even as a gift for your friends and family! All you need is a paper plate, scissors, leaves, or flowers to your liking and glue. The leaves and flowers can be collected when you go on walks. Otherwise, you can also ask your relatives to collect them for you if you do not wish to go out. When you have all the materials, just use the scissors to cut the paper plate’s center to make the wreath shape. All you have to do is to glue the flowers and leaves onto the plate and leave it to dry. Once dry, you are all done! Do this with your family for a great bonding session!
Simple Sock Snowman
Another craft you can try is a snowman made of socks! This is easier than sewing one as elastics are used to hold everything in its place. You will need a long sock (typically white, but it is up to you). You will also need a funnel, a few cups of grains, two rubber bands, another sock for the hat, a permanent marker, four buttons of your choice, a small piece of ribbon, and a glue gun. Depending on how well your hand mobility is, you can get your family to help and create some bonding time too. All you need to do is to fill up the large sock with the grain of choice and close the top with an elastic so that the sock is firm. Wrap the second elastic around the center of the sock to create the head and squish the grains around to get the perfect shape. Roll the smaller sock up to make a hat and place it over the top of the snowman, drawing the features with a black marker. Use a glue gun to fasten the buttons down, wrap the ribbon around the neck for a scarf, and you are done!
Geometric Tape Painting
This craft is the simplest and also the most fun! Just tape a piece of canvas with painter’s tape to make different shapes and paint over them as you please! You can mix the colors or make the shapes clean to make your own masterpiece!
