With an innate love and commitment to the senior population since a young age, Nicole has been in the industry since the age of 19. Now with more than twenty years of senior leadership experience, Nicole comes to Discovery Village at Sarasota Bay with vast industry knowledge and an intense passion for excellence. Nicole has held healthcare administrator licenses since 2001 and has her bachelor’s degree in Gerontology. Originally from New Jersey, Nicole has lived in Sarasota County since 2016. She is married with one son, two stepchildren, and five grandchildren. When not working, Nicole spends her time with family, at the beach and engaging in health and wellness activities.

Marissa Vasquez

Executive Director | Assisted Living

Marissa Vasquez, Executive Director for Discovery Village Sarasota Bay Assisted Living, has 10 years’ experience in senior living with her last seven years working as an Executive Director. Her passion is helping older people live better by giving them the strength, purpose and belonging while living in their community. During her time as an Executive Director her communities have been recognized as a Great Place to Work based on employee survey results. Marissa works with her teams to assure a culture of teamwork, compassion, and integrity. Prior to joining the senior living industry, Marissa worked in management for 11 years with the Walt Disney Company. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her significant other and their 11-year-old son while her daughter is finishing her senior year at Florida State University.

Jon Memmoli

Campus Executive Chef: Discovery Village At Sarasota Bay

Jon entered the Restaurant and Bar industry in 2000 learning Front of House Management first, then shifting gears to the Back of House where he honed his skills as a chef. By age 29, Jon had opened his second restaurant in the Hudson Valley where he is from. In 2019 he made the move to Bradenton Florida and found his love for Senior Living Communities and the west coast of Florida. In April of 2023, Jon took on the role of Executive Chef at Discovery Villages at Sarasota Bay and is thrilled to bring his extensive knowledge of the food and beverage industry along with his passion to cook to this wonderful community. When Jon is not cooking, he is enjoying all that Florida has to offer with his significant other, Connie and her two children.

Charles Lahti

Assisted Living Executive Chef

Charles entered the culinary industry during his ten years of naval service as a Culinary Specialist. After being honorably discharged from the Navy in 2009, Charles honed his culinary skillset at Sarasota Memorial Hospital. Charles then worked for IMG Academy, where he assisted with production and inventory for1800 students and 140 staff. From IMG, Charles joined Discovery Village At Sarasota Bay Assisted Living in 2019. After being promoted to a Sous Chef position in 2023 Charles was recognized as a leader by Discovery Village At Sarasota Bay Active Independent Living and subsequently promoted to Executive Chef for the Assisted Living community in February of 2024. In his free time, Charles enjoys the outdoors of Florida, taking up kayaking and snorkeling throughout the state.

Erin Haggerty

Active Independent Living Director of Celebrations and Transportation

Erin Haggerty, Director of Celebrations and Transportation, grew up in Burkina Faso, West Africa. Erin moved to New Jersey with her family when she was 14 years old. Erin graduated from Nyack College in Nyack, New York with a degree in Education. After moving to Sarasota, Florida eight years ago, she began working in senior living. Erin’s passion is to enhance the lives of those at Discovery Village At Sarasota Bay, Active Independent Living. When she is not working, she enjoys golfing, swimming, and spending time with friends and family.

Rusty

Rusty Wood

Assisted Living Director of Celebrations

Rusty Wood, Director of Celebrations, is a graduate of the University of Georgia, where he also played college football. Rusty has over 27 years of experience at the YMCA and 12 years as a Recreation Ministries Director for Athens First United Methodist Church. With a passion for helping others, Rusty was pleased to find senior living after retiring and now can’t ever see leaving! Rusty is married with three daughters and four grandchildren, who are all the loves of his life. In Rusty’s free time, he enjoys spending time with his grandchildren and playing golf.
