Naples Botanic Gardens
As a 170-acre garden paradise that is widely regarded as world-class, it features plants and plant cultures from both the tropics and south tropics. Even if you have never visited the Caribbeans, Southeast Asia or Brazil, you will be able to get a small glimpse into the flora that grows in that region.
Out of the 180, 90 acres of the garden are well-restored natural habitats for a glimpse into an untouched landscape. More importantly, there are walking trails that are suitable for all ages to explore that are both educational and entertaining.
Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary
Spanning across 13,000 acres of land, this preserve is a pristine example of the natural flora and fauna native to the United States. All visitors will be able to witness a wilderness that dates back more than 500 years, untouched by human development. There is a 2.25 mile boardwalk that will bring you through different landscapes, allowing you to have an eye-opening experience. Whether it is the giant Bald Cypress trees that tower 130 feet into the air, or the many alligators, deer, turtles, and otters that live in this sanctuary, there are photo opportunities and learning points at every turn of the trail.
Before you make your way down, take note that the sanctuary only accepts online reservations and will not allow walk-ins. If you are a resident at Discovery Village at Naples, as part of our Expressions Concierge program, all you need to do is drop by the concierge desk and our friendly crew will help you to arrange transportation and reservations.
Naples Zoo at Caribbean Gardens
The Naples Zoo is another must-visit for anyone who is interested in nature. Most people might think that the zoo is an attraction only for families or children, but it is actually also a historic tropical garden and recognized by the highest standards for conservation, education, and wildlife care.
You can start off the day by visiting the different animal exhibits and then go for a leisurely 20-minute ride along their zoo cruise. Afterwards, you can end off the day by taking a slow walk through their gardens trail loop.
